Drivers and Residents Alert for Sunday, April 7, 2019

VIEW RACE ROUTE

If you are planning to drive on the lower coast on Sunday April 7, 2019, please be cautious of the 600+ runners who will be making their way from Gibsons to Davis Bay for the 42nd Annual Sunshine Coast April Fool's Run presented by Coast Cable. Here are the key areas to be aware of:

1. START, GIBSONS: The main race starts at 9:17am on Park Road by the Gibsons & Area Community Centre. The start line will be across the entire road. No through traffic on Park Road from 9:05am to 9:20am. Local residents between the highway and the Rec Centre can enter/exit via the highway until 9:12am, and after 9:20am. Local residents between Brothers Park and Reed may use Reed Road to enter/exit until 9:12am, and after 9:22am.

Once on Reed, runners will turn left and run in the left lane facing traffic heading towards Payne Road. They will be off Reed Road by approximately 9:27am.

The runners will then turn left onto Payne Road and run down the right side (with traffic). Then they will continue down Pratt Rd to Chaster, right on King, right on Fitchett, left on Veterans to the highway. Please be VERY CAUTIOUS on Pratt Road between 9:22 and 9:37am, and avoid King Road/Fitchett before 9:47am if going to/from the Bonniebrook area (use Pratt instead).

2. MID-RACE, ROBERTS CREEK: As in previous years, be very cautious of runners along Lower Road and Beach Avenue in Roberts Creek, and especially at the intersection of Lower Road and Roberts Creek Road. Obey marshals' directions.

3. FINISH LINE, DAVIS BAY The runners will be turning off the highway and finishing in Mission Point Park. Please watch for participants crossing the road to get to their cars after the run.

NO PARKING along the highway shoulder near Mission Point Park from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Sunday April 7. Please obey temporary no parking signs. Any vehicles left there during this time may be towed at the owner's expense.
