September to December: Lower Mainland Cross Country Series
Eight races to choose from; loads of fun! Earn points and win prizes at the end of the series! Series details here — many of the events also have kids races.
October 18: Frank Reynolds Memorial XC
Event #4 of the LMXC Series. Nice trail and grass course in Cates Park, North Vancouver, with a late start (1pm) so we can take the 10:20 ferry. Details at www.norwesterstandf.com/home.php.
October 25: BC XC Championships
In Stanley Park this year. Senior/Masters women 1:55pm, men at 2:30pm. Also citizen's race at 10am. All details at www.bcathletics.org/main/xcchamps.htm.
November 16: Peninsula Runners XC Ramble
In Watershed Park, Delta. A conflict this year with the Fall Classic! So we have to choose. The organizers of this one are willing to change the start time to 11am so we can get there on the 8:20 ferry if there is no 6:20. At least some of us will be doing this one as opposed to the Fall Classic. It's the 2nd to last race in the XC series so an important one for points. See www.peninsularunners.com/events/xcramble.com
November 16: Fall Classic 5k, 10k, Half Marathon
'The last great run of the year' — your last chance to run a good road race before the year-end. Later half marathon start this year (8:30) means runners in all 3 races can travel over on race morning (unless BC Ferries screws us with the new schedule). June 2010: The Great Alaskan Maritime Marathon
This was a blast in 2008! Alaska Running Cruise with John 'The Penguin' Bingham and his wife Coach Jenny Hadfield.
Run the world's only staged maritime marathon... a series of runs at
the various ports of call and on the ship: road, cross-country, deck run.
By the end of the week you'll have run the marathon
distance (26.2 miles) and have seen some of the world's most beautiful landscapes.
