Post-Race Food & Festivities

The race finishes in beautiful Mission Point Park in Davis Bay (Sechelt). There is a large grassy area surrounded by sheltering trees, all just steps from the beach. A great place to recover and cheer for your friends and teammates. Under the food tents you'll find a selection of hot and cold items not found at any other race! For everyone's comfort and safety, NO DOGS in the park during the event. Please remind your non-running supporters to leave their dogs at home.

Q2: What organization's logo can be found on the change room building? What's this?

Finish Line Music and Announcing

DJ Astrid

DJ Astrid will be back again to keep you rockin' with great music at the finish! A graduate of the Rhythm Institute, Canada's largest dj school, Astrid not only plays the hits, she also specializes in mixing house music.

David Jackson, finish line announcer

Enjoy your moment of glory as you hear your name at the finish line! Our announcer is David Jackson, who is a past winner and multi-time podium finisher at the Fool's Run.

David lives and works in Abbotsford with his wife Jo-Anne where he is a Grade 8 teacher. After growing up in Ontario he moved to Victoria in 2004 to pursue competitive distance running. David has appreciated the many opportunities and experiences running has brought him and a lot of this is owed to the high quality coaches he has had. He started a running club for children in 2012 that encourages kids to have a healthy lifestyle through the enjoyment of running. He still enjoys training and competing.

Note, if you happen to be finishing at the same time as the costume contest or awards ceremony, we apologize ahead of time that you might not hear your name — there is only space for one sound system!

To keep the ceremony short and sweet and give you more time flexibility, all Age Group and Relay awards, Group Challenge awards and draw prizes will be available for pickup at the Awards Tent (beside the stage, see finish area map), from approximately 11:00am to 12:30pm, as results are available. Be sure to check to see if you won! We will also announce the winners' names periodically when possible (in the gaps between finishers).

Kids' Activity Tent

Kids in the Home Healthcare Network Kids' Jester Dash presented by Enchanted Toys & Games can come early and have fun at the Activity Tent, hosted by Home Healthcare Network. Starting at 11:00am they can decorate their run t-shirt (with fabric paint markers), do arts and crafts, play games and warm up for the run. The kids registration has always filled up prior to race day, but in case there are some spots available, late sign-up will also happen at the Activity Tent.

Do not cross the finish chute to get to the kids' area! Please go around the back of the finish line. This is for your own safety and your child's as well as the finishing runners. No collisions please.

Shower and Change Facilities

At the finish: Change into your dry gear in the Davis Bay beach washroom/changeroom building (heated!). It's about 150m from the finish line, at the edge of the Davis Bay Beach parking lot, just west of Mission Point Park — see finish area map. Look for the cinder block building with the Rotary logo. There are separate change cubicles as well as toilet stalls. No public nudity — use the changeroom, not the park!

In Gibsons: Showers are available at the Gibsons Community Centre for $3 pp. Don't forget to bring a towel! If you wish to use a locker, you can bring your own lock.

Celebrate Your Run

Relax with a waterfront view

Now you're ready to top off your day in the Fool's Run tradition. Head down to Gibsons Landing and celebrate your accomplishment with fellow runners at Gramma's Pub, Molly's Reach (of Beachcombers fame), or Gibsons Tapworks. Relax and fully experience the unique atmosphere of the Sunshine Coast. Take in the fabulous harbour views. See the Persephone on display across the road (yes, the actual boat used in the TV Series). It's like a trip back in time. You won't find any pay parking here, and gas is cheaper.

Speaking of the Persephone, another great spot for post-race celebration is Persephone Brewing, a beer farm/craft brewery located near the top of the bypass on the way to the ferry from Upper Gibsons. Live music from 2-4pm, and the Farm to Feast food truck will be open.

Another great new option in Upper Gibsons is The 101 Brewhouse + Distillery, located a short stroll from the Gibsons Garden Hotel. Be sure to try the Mahan Trail Blonde Ale, our favourite.

Catch a later ferry when you're ready to head back to the big city (if ever). Here's the bus schedule.
