Other Events on the Sunshine Coast
The April Fool's Run is just one of many athletic events on the Sunshine Coast. For those of you who live here or just enjoy visiting, we have compiled this calendar of races for your convenience.
If you know of any Sunshine Coast runs, triathlons, bike races, etc. that are not listed here, please let us know about them. Please include event name, location, date, and contact info.
Sunshine Coast race directors, if your event does not have a website, send us your entry form (PDF file) and we'll post it here.
All information listed here is subject to change. The Sunshine Coast April Fool's Run organizers are not responsible for any errors. Not all 2008 dates are confirmed.
May 10, 2008: The 3rd annual Granny Run 5k starts and finishes at the Seniors' Centre in Sechelt. For information contact Contact Maurice Farn at 604-885-8910 or 604-740-3938.
May TBA, 2008: A community fair event, the Pender Harbour May Day 4 km Fun Run is free! 8:00am start at Madeira Park, Pender Harbour. Bring the family and stick around afterwards for a fun-filled day of games, food, parade, entertainment, craft booths and more!

2008: Tune up your mountain bike for the Sunshine Coast Rat Race,
held on the popular trails of the Sunshine Coast in Roberts Creek.
The 6th annual 2007 event had over 500 riders. XC and DH races.
Cross Country Marathon is the BC Championships for 2008.

June 7-8, 2008: Canadian Cancer Society Relay
For Life: A non-competitive overnight relay celebrating cancer
survivors and hope, to raise money for the CCS. Teams of 8-12 people
take turns walking, strolling or running around the track at Roberts
Creek Elementary, 7pm to 7am. Includes
Survivors' Victory Lap, Luminary Ceremony, live entertainment and

July 1, 2008:
Celebrate Canada Day by running the third annual Sechelt Canada Day Mile!
Takes place just before the parade in downtown Sechelt, starting and finishing
on Cowrie Street in front of the crowds. Start time 10:45am at the top of Cowrie Street in
front of Rockwood. Details here.

11-13, 2008: Join thousands of other paddlers from as
far away as Hawaii at the 10th annual International Howe Sound Outrigger Race,
in Gibsons. The largest paddling event of its kind in Canada, this event
is touted as one of the top 10 outrigger races in the world. Visit

July 13, 2008:
Take in a traditional community event by running the Halfmoon
Bay Trophy Run. Pleasant net downhill 5.4 km route starts at
Connor Park and ends at the Halfmoon Bay Country Fair in Cooper's Green—entry
is free! Bring the whole family
and enjoy the Fair afterwards, with food, kids games, music
and local artisans. Race starts at 10:30am; sign up by 10:00am at
Connor Park (near HMB Elementary).

26, 2008: Test your speed at the 6th annual Gibsons Sea Cavalcade Mile.
In conjunction with the Gibsons Sea Cavalcade Festival, this is a one mile
road race in Upper Gibsons, right before the parade. Fast slightly
downhill course! Very low entry fee. Great for all ages. CASH PRIZES!

August 24, 2008:
New event: Four Lakes 10k in Garden Bay, starting and finishing at Katherine Lake, going to Hotel Lake and back.
Highly scenic course on quiet rural roads. Back to basics event.

Iron Kids Triathlon is fun and fitness for the
younger set—not to be missed! Individual or Relay in a number of

September 14, 2008: Terry Fox Run in Gibsons (at Cross-Trainers) and Roberts Creek (at the school). 9:30am start.
October 12, 2008:
Run one of the most scenic point-to-point courses
anywhere in the Youth Violence Awareness Run 8.5k in Garden Bay. Run
beside a picturesque lake and wind through forests of fall foliage and
evergreens. Finish at Pender Harbour Secondary. Contact

October 19, 2008:
Sechelt Fall Tune-Up Cross Country.
All ages welcome. Distances from 1k to 5.4k, through the beautiful trails and campsite
