Finisher's Medals
A high-quality, commemorative, custom designed April Fool's Run Finisher's Medal will be given to each individual and relay team completing the Half Marathon. 2009 medal shown at right (click to enlarge).
Age Group, Relay & Team Awards
Awards will be presented to the top 3 males and females in each age division. Awards for first relay team in each of the 2-person and 4-person age divisions (each winning team member receives an award).
Age divisions
- Individual half marathon, Male and Female: 19&U, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+.
- 2-person Relay: total age under 80, total age 80 and up.
- 4-person Relay: total age under 100, 100-199, 200 and up.
Club/Team Challenge—winning team (lowest combined times, first 4 finishers to count) will win merchandise prizes from Trail Bay Source for Sports.
Overall Awards: Cash Prizing
Top three overall males and females and first male and female masters (40+) in the half marathon (9am start) will each receive cash prizes.

BC Championships Prizing
Championship Medals will be presented to:

Top Local Finishers
The first local (Sunshine Coast, Port Mellon to Egmont) male and female finishers will have their names engraved on the George Matthews Memorial Trophy, in addition to a pair of New Balance shoes from Trail Bay Source for Sports. The trophy is a perpetual award on display throughout the year at Elphinstone Secondary where the late Mr. Matthews, co-founder of the April Fool's Run, was head of the English Department for many years.

grocery store after a morning jog! To enter the draw, go to the GIANT / Spin Cycles tent at the Gibsons Community Centre at the start.
Winner will be announced at the awards ceremony.

Post-Run Refreshments
Food and drinks for participants will be located beyond the finish line, immediately after the chip removal and finisher medal handout. There will be Canadian Springs water, sports drink, food from MarketPlace IGA including bagels, fruit, cookies, and yogourt. Plus coffee, hot chocolate and tea from Wheatberries!
Note: free refreshments are for participants and volunteers only. Spectators can purchase food and drink at Pier 17 Market in Davis Bay, a short walk from the finish area.
Post-race Massage
Chiropractic Care and Massage Therapy provided free of charge at the finish line by Peak Performance Chiropractic. First come, first served.
Awards Ceremony
The awards ceremony will start at approximately 11:30am at the gear check tent. Top Open and Masters prizes will be presented first, followed by age group awards and BC Championship awards. Awards will be available for pickup until 12:30pm.
Draw prizes
In addition, a number of valuable prizes from our sponsors will be given away in a random draw—including high-quality running gear from New Balance. Look for your name on a list posted at the awards table near the gear check tent, and claim your prize there.
B&B getaway draw prizes
All participants have a chance to win one of several accommodation vouchers for local B&B's, like Up the Creek B&B in Roberts Creek, Davis Bay Bed & Breakfast in Davis Bay, and At The Shore B&B in Sechelt. Enjoy a relaxing getaway on the Sunshine Coast.
Getting back to Gibsons & the ferry
Most of our free bus trips will be timed so you can stay for the awards ceremony and easily catch the 2:30 ferry. You can also leave as early as 11:20 and get the 12:20 ferry, if you really have to. Schedule below. Where a range of times is given, bus will leave when full or at the later time, whatever comes first.

If you want to relax and explore the area (highly recommended!) you can take public transit to a later ferry. What's the rush? The buses leave in front of the Cedars Inn at 1:57 for the 2:30 ferry, 3:50 for the 4:30 ferry, 5:58 for the 6:30 ferry, and 7:57 for the 8:20 ferry.
If you hang out in Davis Bay you can catch the bus at 1:35 for the 2:30 ferry, 3:15 for the 4:30 ferry, 5:23 for the 6:20 ferry, and 7:37 for the 8:20 ferry. The route goes through Gibsons Landing (waterfront) so you can get off there, explore the area including Molly's Reach of Beachcombers fame, then get on a later bus and continue to the ferry.
Shower and Change Facilities
At the finish, you can change at the Davis Bay beach washroom/changeroom building (heated!), close to the finish line, right behind the gear tent.
In Gibsons: Showers available back at the Gibsons Community Centre. Show your bib number for a free shower. Don't forget to bring a towel!
